Love Is In The Air

Once Christmas' gone next thing you know it's count down to New Year's and then chocolates for Valentine's Day!! Sweetest and most lovely time of year (at least some say).

So I thought I'd share with you a simple Valentines's Day card I recently made. The colors are so traditional for the occasion yet it has some softness to it that I just love.

To create it I first stamped a background using versa mark. After that I created the simple center. I cut out two pieces of cardstock (a good size to layer) then I punched a border on one and distressed it quite a bit using my rose bud ink. Then I stamped the sentiment and traced the swirl and "I" with my platinum stickles. Then I stamped the lips and finished off with a couple of heart brads. Isn't that super simple?!?

And here it is. Have I mentioned how much I love these colors :)

Here's a close up of the lips. I bought this stamp a while ago and thought it so cute. I stamped it with rose bud by Memento and then used my liquid glass and it looks as if it did have lip gloss.

Well that's all for now. I'll be back early next week (my husbands' computer isn't available). So by then I'll have my simple Valentine's Day treats, lots of cards (I think from now on I'm going to share more than one per post) and remember that I have some Great News to share with you all, news you don't want to miss because to celebrate I'll have a Giveaway here at my blog!!!! Stay tuned and spread the word ;)

I Made The Cut

Okay, so it's still December and I barely have posts. What does that mean? Catch up time galore. I have so much I want to share and still no computer. My husband however, has been kind enough to set a time aside so that I can catch up with what I love most (or at least one of the things I love most)- blogging!! Isn't he great?!? So with that being said you'll be seeing me often.

On a different note, a more fun note ;) I've been thinking of "styles" lately. Card styles that is. I've been asked before what's my style and I've found it difficult to define. For one, I had no clue there was such thing as a styles. That is until I began exploring blogs and oh (gasp), the beauty and creativity out there was overwhelming. So, I began to compare my creations with that of other blogger friends and I began to see differences. The "styles" began to unfold. I found elegant designs (with satin, and shimmer), contemporary (which I define as abstract), funky (which to me shouts bold, bright colors yet daring enough to combine it with lace) and then vintage, who doesn't love vintage (I just can't create it) or shabby, oh how about whimsy (the cartoony super cute looking images? There's loads of those and that I also like. And of course, there's everything in between plus simple-minimilistic, chic (which is super girly and sassy) and the list goes on and on and on. I'm sure you have your own list and description of styles.

So I began the quest to define my "style". I payed careful attention at what I like and what I'm continually drawn to when I grab paper, glue and scissors -the things that make me go, wow and aw h!!!

This is what I came up with. First of all, I do change "styles". I'm very dependent on trends and moods and of course the occasion. However, with the changes there's a defining core style and that would be Simple-Minimilistic. I can incorporate other styles like whimsy, contemporary or even funky but in the end what you will see in my creations is a Simple-Minimilistic style. With all that being said, what's your style?

Some details on todays card and the reason for my title. I've been wanting to try this for a while but kept forgetting. I finally got to it yesterday. I took my craft knife (which I'm always afraid to use) and cut out the word "hi" from my brown cardstock then I placed a back panel of berry sorbet cardstock that had been stamped with a light background and adhered to the back This technique created a super simple yet classy looking hello card. This made me think of many other ideas like perhaps using clear sheets or cutting out other shapes.

Don't mind the edges I'm just now starting to use my craft knife ;)

Merry Christmas!!!

Hi friends!!! Just wanted to stop by and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
We didn't do anything traditional except one thing, thank God for all His goodness towards us, goodness we so don't deserve.

I pray the miracle of Christ's birth may be re-lived in each and everyone of your hearts. May this year leave you with a hunger for more of the experience of that precious gift laid in the manger hundreds of years ago, which is indeed, the reason for the season.

Happy Holidays 2009!!!

Just thought I'd leave you with a view of our fun and untraditional christmas tree and some exciting announcements :)

This Spiral pine tree measures more than 8 feet. We think it was wonderful. The gifts were placed right around the pot :)

**ANNOUNCEMENT** (spread the word)

This week I'm getting back on track with some fun creations and past due images of treats I made for my relatives as christmas gifts (maybe I can make them again and dress them up for valentines). So stay tuned for that!!! Also follow me for these next few weeks because I have some major super fun news and I'm going to celebrate with a GIVEAWAY!!! All this as a token of gratitude for all you faithful followers who have stuck with me during these few weeks without computer, inspiration, eye candy and all that kind of good stuff :)

Too Long!!

Wow!! It's been a little too long since I've been around blog land. I've missed so much inspiration. It's good to be back even if it's for a little :)

Well it's official my computer crashed and it's beyond repair. So that has slowed down things for me. That's why I haven't been around. I miss you all.

How are your holiday creations/preparations coming along? Are you getting your shopping done? This year I'm making most of the gifts. It's so hard to purchase things for relatives and friends- you know, things they'll actually wear or like and gift cards can get expensive very quickly. So a homey gift it is. Which is better in my opinion and eco friendly ;) I've been working on vegan low fat chocolate chip cookies. Sometimes it's best to stick with what I know (paper goods) but I guess it's ok to venture out of my comfort zone (baking) even if it's for once. I think I'll be creating a box of goodies. It'll have chocolate treats, mini brownies on a stick with drizzled white and dark chocolate with dark chocolate cookie crumbs for texture, thumb print almond jewel cookies and dark chocolate chip, macadamia, cranberry cookies everything vegan and homemade. I'll be sure to post picture of my goodie box. Hopefully they'll turn out good :)

On another note even though I haven't been around doesn't mean I haven't been creating. I been making christmas cards galore and tree ornaments too. I need to snap a picture of that. For now I'll leave with two of my cards for the season. Enjoy!!

For my first card I used my Sassafras Sweet Marmalade paper and Bo Bunny huge snowflake stamp. A very fun and simple card. The colors are way brighter than what I'm used to working with and non traditional for christmas but I still think it's fun and festive.

For this second card I used ocean tides, london fog and amethyst. I love this color combo. I simple stamped randomly my snowflakes and added a border on top and to add some focal point I used a rhine stone my white gel pen and scor-pal.

I used pop up sticker for my sentiment. Since it's so tiny I wanted to make sure it was noticed.

Hope to be back soon. Can't say how soon till further notice. Meanwhile I'll be looking for a laptop :)

Have a lovely weekend!!
